How to Handle Stress Before the IELTS Exam?

Exams are indeed stressful. Hours are spent in reviewing; some even have study groups to have better understanding on the coverage of the test. As the exam draws near, anxiety builds up and possibly, students lose their confidence that they can pass the exam. The stress creeps in destroying everything the person has worked hard for. The same scenario happens to people who are scheduled to take the IELTS or the International English Language Testing System examination. They feel nervous for the coming exam and this should be avoided and handled carefully.

Stress is already a part of our system. Since it exists in us, there are a number of ways candidates can do to handle the stress before the IELTS exam. Here are some:

Know what stresses you the most. Is it the speaking test? Is it the long passages in the reading? As a candidate, you have to know what the cause of this stress is and focus on working on it. For example, if you are poor in reading, give more time on reading practices. The more you feel secure on your weakness, the less stress you get.

Be at the test center early. Being in the center early means having yourself adjusted with the environment. Get familiar with the location of the toilet or the water fountain. Sit on the chair and relax patiently when your name is called.

Eat something before going to the exam. Do not go to the exam with an empty stomach. Further, avoid stuffing lot either. Have a nice meal. Eat something healthy. A full stomach lets you think more clearly. As a result, you get better responses in the exam.

Breathe in and breathe out. Everybody feels stressed but you can fight it. Relax and listen to some nice music while waiting. Do not study while you are at the center. It will just only make you more nervous to take the exam.

Have plenty of time reviewing. The main reason why we feel stressed for the exam is knowing that the preparation is not enough.  Manage time wisely and make sure to review in a day. Just like soldiers to be deployed in a war, do not come to the battle without being prepared and without your bullets. Understand the tasks and all the essential skills for the exam.

There is no room for stress if one is fully prepared for the examination. Prepare by reading and practicing questions for the IELTS. Better yet, enrol in IELTS review programs in IELTS review centers near you.

How IELTS Online Review Helpful in Passing the IELTS examination?

When taking an examination, everybody is suggested to put a lot of effort in reviewing. This is especially true if you are someone getting ready for the IELTS or the International English Language Testing System examination. In the Philippines today, taking the IELTS test has been a common thing to do since it is a requirement for visa applications in countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Because of the increase in people taking the exam, different IELTS review centers in the country have seen the rise in their enrollees in the past years.

One good way in getting ready for the IELTS examination is attending review classes in IELTS review centers. These review centers have programs designed to help students gain the necessary skills in taking the IELTS examination. Since most of the test takers of the IELTS test are students and working professionals, it is a fact that they want to have flexible classes that will not conflict with school and work. Some IELTS review centers have come up with different class schedules that can accommodate students at night or on the weekends. However, some IELTS review centers have thought of having an online IELTS review

An online IELTS review is an option that IELTS test candidates should take advantage. A lot of people might be skeptical with its efficiency in providing training and knowledge for the exam. However, the online IELTS review class is sure to help students pass the IELTS. How? Here are the reasons how an online IELTS test can ensure one’s success in the IELTS test.

In an online IELTS review, instructors are given only one student in each class. This means all the attention and focus of the teacher is solely on one student. There is no divided attention in class. The teacher will be able to guide the student well in developing the skills and techniques for the exam.

Since it is a one-on-one class, it promotes participation from the student. Unlike in a group class where some students are hesitant in participating, a student has to speak and share his thoughts or opinions in class. Active participation is an important factor in learning, understanding and using the English language.

Flexible time schedule is what the online IELTS class is proud of. Students do not need to worry finding an available time to attend class. All they have to do is book a class right on their own convenience. They can study from an hour or two with their instructors.

It is so convenient to learn in an online IELTS class. What the students need is a working computer and a good Internet connection. Classes can be done anytime and anywhere.

The quality of the materials used in the online class is the same with the physical set up class. There is no need to worry since what you have in class is just the same with the regular class. Further, there are still weekly assessments and mock exams to gauge the student’s improvement in the program.

Anyone can enroll in an online IELTS review program. The secret in passing the IELTS is the amount of practice one invests before the real test.

2-Weeks IELTS Review: Is it Enough to Take the IELTS Exam?

The International English Language Testing System exam or the IELTS has been popular because of the number of individuals – students, working professionals and ordinary citizens – taking the exam as a requirement for their visa applications. It has been made one of the requirements to ensure that the individual knows how to understand and use the English language. This will show their success and productivity once granted with a visa.

IELTS test candidates are always advised to take IELTS review courses before taking the examination. Some buy IELTS review manuals from bookstores or even online to do self-study. Most people who choose this are those individuals who do not have time to spare for a review in IELTS review centers because of their busy schedules. However, a few of these people do not know that some review centers are offering a two-week intensive review program for the IELTS.
Is a two-week intensive IELTS review enough?

For those busy people, this kind of program is perfect for you. There are a lot of things to be learned and these are a few reasons why this two-week intensive IELTS review program is effective.

Lectures are packed with all the necessary information one must know about the IELTS test. These classroom lectures aim for the student to understand the four sections of the exams – speaking, listening, reading and writing – and be fluent with the usage of English in each section.

For the first week, the student is given daily exercises to improve their skills in all four sections. Reading practices helps students increase their comprehension skills. Vocabulary classes are conducted to introduce students to different vocabulary words that are commonly used in the IELTS test.

Listening practices are given to hone their listening skills. Exercises include dictation, spelling and listening comprehension. Further, students are also taught on how some words sound differ when spoken in the American, Australian, and British English accents. It will guide candidates to understand spoken English better and much easily.

Individual speaking mock exams are given in a two-week intensive program. The student has the opportunity to practice with a speaking coach. After the mock exam, the speaking coach or instructor will give out his or her comments and give feedback on things that the students misses in his or her response or things that sound off to the topic. This will also help boost the candidate’s confidence in using the English language. The feedback plays a vital role in building weaknesses into strengths.

A one-on-one writing consultation is given to the students. Here, they are given the opportunity to ask for advice on how they can improve their writing skill. The mentors will point out things that the student needs to work harder like grammar, vocabulary and sentence construction. This is also the best way for students to have a review on some English grammar rules.

The two-week program consists of lectures, practice exams, and final coaching that are packed with the best discussions and strategies for the test

This program is designed to those people who are working and cannot leave their work for review classes. It is best for people who have already take the test before and wants a refresher course before taking the test again. Though the two-week program sounds great and promising, IELTS test takers are still encouraged to take longer reviews for more practices and great improvement on their English skills.

What kinds of materials should I read to prepare for the IELTS exam?

With the competition for work here in the Philippines, most professionals seek for better employment overseas. There are thousands of job vacancies in English speaking countries that provide better salary packages and a much brighter career growth. With these presented, a lot of Filipinos start preparing their requirements to find work in countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and even in the United States of America.

Since these are English speaking countries, it is just natural for these future employers to seek candidates who are good at English – people who can be very productive and efficient at work. Having this said, most companies and institutions require an English proficiency examination certificate like the IELTS or the International English Language Testing System examination. Because it is considered as a major requirement, applicants start preparing for the exam. What kind of materials should people be reading for the IELTS?

For starters, candidates for the examination need to know what the IELTS is. In knowing the test, it involves understanding the different tasks in each section. Further, candidates have to understand the two different kinds of modules for the test: the Academic and the General Training. The reading and writing sections of the exam are both different in these modules; hence, information on what type of test to be taken is necessary.

Reading materials for the IELTS helps one prepare for the test. Here are reading materials candidates can start reading:

Newspapers are a very good source of reading material. There are lot of stories – both fiction and nonfiction – to be read. The vocabulary used in newspaper articles is also very helpful in broadening one’s word bank.

Magazines are not only entertaining but informative as well. Most magazine articles are not written in a very formal tone. Some reading passages in the IELTS reading are from magazine articles; hence, knowing how the flow of these articles looks like is a good advantage.

Journals can be pretty boring but very helpful for the IELTS. There are thousands of journals available online. Choose some to read on and be familiar with how information is presented in the journals.

Advertisements may look unimportant but there are passages from the IELTS that are from real advertisements in newspapers. Study how details are presented in these advertisements. They can be very tricky actually with what kind of product or service certain advertising is offering.

Online blogs are good reads. You can find a lot of information and entertaining stuff to get involved in.

Though reading seems a very boring activity, it is a good way in learning vocabulary and different expressions for the IELTS test. Remember that learning is not easy; sometimes, you have to do the most tedious stuff to gain knowledge.
