10 Reasons why you failed the PT Local Examination

Some of the professions here in the Philippines need a licensure examination under the Philippine Regulatory Commission. Most take this licensure examination for them to be able to work in their chosen fields particularly those in the healthcare industry. These professionals need to have their licenses for them to be accepted in different institutions. One of the healthcare professionals that have a high demand in the country nowadays is physical therapists.

Aside from nurses, the number of students studying physical therapy is increasing. The reason is for this is the need for more physical therapists in the Philippines and overseas as well. However, one cannot practice his or her profession unless a license is available. Physical therapists spend months in studying for their PT local board exam. Sleep deprived, they take the PT local board exam with a hope of passing it. However, not all takers are as lucky as others. Some unfortunately fail the PT local board exam. What could have happened? Here are a few reasons why an examiner failed the licensure examination.

1. Weakness on a particular field

Before taking the examination, it is best to know the most possible coverage of the examination. Come up with a list to prioritize areas that you feel you are weak at. The most reason for failure is the unfamiliarity of an examinee to the topic. It is recommended for candidates to know the specific areas they have difficulty on and focus on reviewing on that topic.

2. Poor review time management

There is a very limited time on your review. Setting goals on finishing subjects to be studied is needed. List down the topics and allot a lot of time for reviewing. Prioritize those that are lengthy and difficult.

3. Uninformed on the exam’s content

Months before the examination, the Philippine Regulatory Commission releases guidelines for the examination. This is best for examinees to know the coverage of the examination. Further, those individuals who fail to know the topics have a higher chance of really failing the test.

4. Poor retention

There are a lot of concepts to be memorized and remembered. Some are good at keeping this information in their heads while others are not. Make sure to understand general topics and be detailed on the specifics.

5. Over studying

People push themselves too much that their brains get tired. A few days before the examination, give time for the brain to rest. Going to the test with a tired brain can affect your performance.

6. Not getting enough sleep

Some people forget to take breaks when studying. They feed their mind with too much information. They deprive themselves with sleep and end up tired the next day for review. Rest is very important like studying. Like muscles, the brain needs a breather from time to time.

7. Not being serious with some coverage of the exam

Some parts of the exam take as much as 60% of the exam. Candidates have to take these subjects seriously and get a lot of correct answers. However, do not be complacent. Prepare for the other parts as well as they also have 40% of the score that you need to pass.

8. Poor review materials

You have the topics but the materials are out-dated and irrelevant. Buy reviewers that are up-to-date. Make sure you have reviewers recommended by past examinees. Better yet, enrol in a PT local board exam review center for quality training.

9. Careless mistakes during the test.

Be sure to shade the circle in the exam properly. Some items cannot be read by the computer if not properly shaded affecting your score.

10. Lack of faith on oneself

Believe in yourself that you can pass the test.

These are a few things every candidate for the PT local board exam should be reminded. Be advised that the key to a successful exam is the preparation he or she gets during the review.
