Almost everyone who is planning to leave
the country for work overseas and pursue further education abroad is familiar
with the different requirements these institutions need. There are these
employment requirements, school records and an English proficiency examination.
As a Filipino, being able to speak the English language well, finding a job or
passing a school’s application will not be a huge problem. However, due to the
importance of an English proficiency examination as a major requirement, Filipinos
are expected to take the IELTS or the International English Language Testing
System examination to fulfill the requirements.
Though Filipinos are already good at the
English language, different companies and academic institutions overseas want
to make sure that their hires and students will be able to survive the
demanding and hectic environment at work or in school. Standard scores have
been set which candidates need to attain. Hence, a lot of candidates have
decided to enrol in IELTS review centers to help them achieve their scores.
Some candidates for the IELTS are still
wondering how they will be able to process their application for the
examination. First thing that a candidate should know is that registering for
the IELTS is a little different in the IDP and the British Council. The IDP and
the British Council are two authorized agencies that host the IELTS
examination. The content of the exam in both agencies are the same so
candidates should not worry about it.
Here’s how to register for the IELTS:
- Prepare all necessary documents for the application. You need to have a valid ID (passport, PRC ID, SSS ID, or GSIS ID). Have this ID scanned for online registration. Go to http://www.philippines.idp.com/ielts/registration_procedure.aspx and click IELTS Book Online now. You will have to make your own account to be able to log in. Instructions are posted. Follow them and there will not be any problem with your registration.
- For the British Council, you will need to have a valid ID like the ones mentioned above. Next, have this document scanned. In addition, you need to have your recent photo taken and scanned. You will have to create an account at https://philippines.ielts.britishcouncil.org/iorpsea/html/registration/showExamSessionListServlet.do where available dates for the exam are also posted. Further, you will need a credit card for online registration, like in the IDP.
However, if you are unsure or nervous to
make a mistake upon registering, you can always ask help from review centers.
They will help you sign up for the exam. They can help you with the online
registration or you can register manually by filling out application forms for
the examination. Ask your IELTS review centers about this and the staff will be
more than willing to help.
