Rules in taking the IELTS examination in IDP

Together with the British Council, IDP is one of the authorized organizations in the world that provide the IELTS or the International English Language Testing System examination. IDP has its head office in Manila and several branches in different cities in the Philippines.


In the Philippines, taking the IELTS is not a new trend. It has been a long time since Filipinos reviewed for the said examination as it is a primary requirement to different visa, work, and school applications in different English speaking countries. The weight of its importance is evident with the amount of Filipinos flocking in different IELTS review centers to take classes to improve their skills for the IELTS examination.

It is very convenient for anyone to register IELTS under the IDP. Registration can be done online in a few minutes. Once a candidate successfully registered to the exam, a set of rules will be given to guide the candidate to a smooth and hassle-free examination. Here are some important rules under the IDP.


• Identification of the candidate is important. Candidates should present and use their valid passport as their identification. They are not allowed to take the test if they fail to present this identification on the day of the exam.

• Any candidate scheduled for the exam (speaking or written tests) is asked to be at the center a couple of hours before the scheduled time. This will give time for the candidate to fill out some documents and be comfortable in the test center.

• Candidates have to bring their writing materials for the test. The test center will not be supplying any pencils to those who fail to bring pencils.

• Cheating is not allowed. Candidates who are caught cheating will be asked to leave the room. Legal actions may be taken.

• Any dictionary (electronic or paperback) is not allowed inside the test center. Mobile phones are also prohibited.

• No one is allowed to bring any food or drinks inside the workstation. This can disrupt other people who are taking the exam.

• Candidates are encouraged to use the toilet before the exam starts. If in any case that the candidate needs to use the toilet, the test proctor should be notified.

• No candidates are allowed to take any material from the test center.

• If there are any special arrangements for the candidate, the test center should be notified at least three months before the scheduled exam. A medical certificate will be asked to support this special arrangement.
