A key to a successful examination is the
amount of preparation and knowledge. Preparing for an examination usually gives
a lot of stress. You have to know the coverage of the exam, read the necessary
topics for the examination, and memorize facts. With this knowledge, you will
be able to answer the questions in the exam. In the IELTS or the International
English Language Testing System examination, candidates are always reminded of
the importance of reviewing for the examination. One way of reviewing for the
examination is to know the usual questions that are included in the sections of
the examination. For speaking and writing, gaining information on the usual
topics asked in the exam is a huge advantage.
The speaking task of the IELTS has three
tasks. In the first task, which is commonly known as the introduction part,
candidates are asked questions about their personal information. In addition,
these questions are asked:

Can you tell me something about
the place where you were born?

Are there any famous tourist
spots or travel destination in your hometown?
·
What kind of job do you want
after you finish your degree?
·
What do you think is the
advantage in learning the English language?

Why are you taking the IELTs
examination?
The Task 2 uses a cue card. Here are some
questions in the IELTS speaking task 2.

And say what kind of

on a computer that you think is enjoyable.

spend more time doing that or not
The third task is a two-way discussion with
the interviewer. The questions are usually connected with the second task. Here
are some questions that are asked in this task:
- Tell me about the types of programme that are generally on television in your country.
- What type of person (parents, teachers, friends etc) are best to influence young people’s behavior?
- Do you think transport is likely to continue to improve in the future?
In the writing section, the questions are
different in the Academic and General Training Module. Here are some questions
in this section.
Academic
Task 1
You should spend about 20 minutes on this
task.
The graph below shows the population
figures of different types of turtles in India between 1980 and 2012. Summarise
the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.

General
Training Task 1
You should spend about 20 minutes on this
task.
An English-speaking friend wants to spend a
two-week holiday in your region and has written asking for information and
advice.
Write a letter to your friend. In your
letter:
- offer to find somewhere to stay
- give advice about what to do
- give information about what clothes to bring
Write at least 150 words.
Academic
Writing and General Training Task 2
You should spend about 40 minutes on this
task.
Write about the following topic:
Modern lifestyles mean that many parents
have little time for their children. Many children suffer because they do not
get as much attention from their parents as children did in the past.
Do you agree or disagree?
Write at least 250 words
There are a lot of speaking and writing
tasks found online for you to practice. To help you practice for the writing
