How to Succeed in the IELTS

Reading section
It is best if one gets familiarize with the effective use of scanning and skimming. Scanning is running through the passage getting the main ideas and the supporting ideas of the paragraph. Skimming, on the other hand, is a quick reading where one searches clues or keywords in the sentences that can be found in the questions related to the passage. Mastering these two techniques will help save the candidate more time in reading the passage.

Listening section
Taking notes is very important. Moreover, you have to practice taking notes with giving importance with the spelling of the words. There are some who are good at taking notes but have problems with the spelling making the notes useless. As much as possible, take more exercises like transcribing news to hone your skills in note taking.

Speaking section
Having good and intelligent responses, bright ideas and confidence in speaking in the English language is the formula in gaining success in the speaking exam. Do not let tension take over your body. Have presence in mind and listen very carefully to what the interviewer asks. Do not answer with just a yes or no, elaborate and make everything conversational. Be interesting and interested as well.

Writing section
Put a little more effort in building skills for grammar and sentence construction. Make sure your essays have smooth flow and are logical. Spelling and coherence should always be checked and considered when you are composing your written response.
